Emotional Roller Coaster
Up, down, up, down.. and back again. Emotional roller coaster= The story of my freaking life!
I found out yesterday that I didn't receive enough financial aid( Federal Student loans) to cover my tuition this year. I didn't qualify for ANYTHING grant or scholarship related. I'm about $10,000 short to go full time, about $9,100 short to go 3/4 time, and about $500 to go part time. So.... It doesn't look like I will be starting school this quarter or the next. I was looking into getting a private student loan, but something about that has me worried- 1. The interest rates suck. 2. I won't be able to start paying it back along with my other student loans 6 months after I graduate. 3. The thought of taking out another loan just to go back to school as me unsettled.
Right now, I'm in a dark and twisty place (Grey's Anatomy quote) I'm trying to shake it, but I can't right now.
Disappointed is not even the word for how I feel. More like defeated. I was finally ready to go back to school, and now this.. I know that God has a plan for each person but, I really wish he would tell me MY plan, or give me hint... Something, cause this is not how I saw my life at 25.
The old adage-"Hindsight is always 20/20"- It sure is. Too bad, I can't go back in time.

Civil Rights Champ Was Secretly in Klan
A white Detroit businessman known for his support of civil rights groups and his generosity toward his black neighbors led a secret life as a high-ranking member in Ku Klux Klan.

Detroit businessman Jim Burwell supported civil rights groups and worked to heal the wounds from the city's 1967 race riot. But after his death, it was revealed that he had been a member of the Ku Klux Klan, the Detroit News said.
Until then, Burwell had a reputation for reaching out to help his black neighbors. He had an old bus that he used to ferry thousands of black children to church services and field trips. He ran a job program for ex-convicts that was partially funded by a civil rights group. He even donated to the Detroit Black Panther Party, the News said.
But documents found in his old truck repair shop after his death at 62 revealed Burwell had been a member of the KKK. Michigan State Police records also indicate he was involved with the Klan, the News said. His widow confirmed his membership. She said it was possible he was working for police as an informant, but there was nothing in police records to confirm that.
Revelations about Burwell's secret life shocked many who knew him as a rights champion.
"I guess you never really know who you are dealing with," civil rights activist Rob Scott, a former Black Panther, told the newspaper. "A whole lot of black people considered them his friend."

Private Pool Bans Minority Campers
HUNTINGDON VALLEY, Pa. (July 10) - State officials will investigate accusations of racial discrimination against a suburban Philadelphia swim club that allegedly reacted to a visiting group of minority children by asking them not to return.
The Pennsylvania Human Relations Commission will immediately open an investigation into the actions of The Valley Club in the leafy suburb of Huntingdon Valley, chairman Stephen A. Glassman said"The rule of law in Pennsylvania is equal opportunity for all, regardless of race," Glassman said Thursday in a written statement released by his office.
"Allegedly, this group was denied the use of a pool based on their race," Glassman said. "If the allegations prove to be true, this is illegal discrimination in Pennsylvania."
The club maintains that accusations of racial discrimination are false and claims overcrowding from more than one outside camp was the problem.
The gated club is on a leafy hillside in a village that straddles two townships with overwhelmingly white populations. It says it has a diverse, multiethnic membership.
Wright said she went to talk to a group of members and heard one woman say she would see to it that the group, made of up of children in kindergarten through seventh grade, did not return.
"Some of the members began pulling their children out of the pool and were standing around with their arms folded," Wright said. "Only three members left their children in the pool with us."
Several days later, the club refunded the camp's $1,950 without explanation, said Wright, who added that some parents are "weighing their options" on legal action.
The National Association for the Advancement of Colored People requested the Human Relations Commission's investigation.
Sen. Arlen Specter, D-Pa., issued a statement calling the allegations "extremely disturbing" and said he was looking into the matter.

In a statement released on its Web site Thursday afternoon, the club called the allegations of racial discrimination "completely untrue."
The club said it "deplores discrimination."
Amy Goldman said she's been a member of the club for two years. She said the pool wasn't particularly crowded and the children from Creative Steps were "well-behaved and respectful."
She said there had been black members at the club in the past, though she couldn't remember seeing any this year.
The club appeared closed Thursday afternoon, and the guard station at the entrance was unattended.
About two dozen protesters, most of them white, held signs in front of the club's locked gates and chanted slogans including, "Jim Crow swims here!"

Friday Foolishness
Friday Foolishness
So.. I'm out to dinner with my mom and sister. Were at a casual dining establishment. Why Why Why?.. Does the hostess have cleavage down to her belly button? I mean seriously? That's a little much for a Friday at 5:30. What I want to know is why the manager seems to think this is ok? I mean really! That much cleavage is ok for.... Maybe someone going out to a party or a club. Cleavage is great for some people in some settings, but I don't want to see your boobies while I'm trying to enjoy my mini cheeseburgers and lemonade with my family. Just dang messy!

Friday Foolishness
I'm a lounge/bar and a young lady walks in. I could she was young just by how she was dressed. She had on a one piece pantsuit with the sides and back cut completely out. Nothing is wrong with that but.. Yes there is a but. She looked rather nasty in my opinion. I could see pretty much everything. Yeah. EVERYTHING! She didn't leave that much to be desired.
It seems that some of the younger girls feel they need to show it all. And they do. Boobies, Butt, and anything else you could care to see.
This is bothers me because I have younger sister. I worry that she may feel that she needs to bare it all to be attractive. That is so not the case. To me it's not just about what you wear that makes you attractice. You can be just as beautiful in a sweater and jeans as you are in something revealing.-It's all about how you carry yourself. You don't have to show it all, or anything for that matter. My husband claims I look great in a raggedy tee and sweats, and he makes me feel beautiful in that same raggedy tee and sweats. I wouldn't have it any other way.

Friday Foolishness: Where is the love?
Happy Friday Yall!
I work in the grocery industry. I just happen to work for the one the largest grocery stores in the U.S. In my younger days..lol I used to be a server in a rather well know resturant, so let's just say I'm an un-offical expert in GREAT Customer Service.
What happen to sales clerks speaking when you came into a store? Or what happen to a server re-filling your drink before your glass was half full? What happen to a thank you?
Sadly, due to the changes in the work force, some people are just doing what they can to keep food in their bellies, and clothes on their butts-I am all for that.
BUT.. Yes, there is a but. In my world, if your going to do a job-do it well dang it. I know that times are rough, but please don't get an attitude while at work and you work in the service industry-that just doesn't make sense. Trust me, I will go to your manager... Call it tattling, Call it being a B***H, so what. If I come/call your place of business, I expect to be treated nicely, I expect my clothes to get folded, before they are placed in the bag, and I for dang sure expect you to speak to me. Nothing gets under my skin more, than rude service workers. Why are you so angry? What did we (the public) do to make your job so freaking hard? Oh I know what we did- we expected you to treat us how you want to be treated. But instead, weve probably came/ called your place of employment with an made about somthing, had an attitude
(just like you), then we were on our cell phone, and the kicker, we didn't even say thank you when we were done. So, I ask you today, where is the love?
