5 years later

A look back, Five years ago today Hurricane Katrina made landfall in state of Lousiana, forever changing the lives of hundreds and thousands of people across the United States.
August 29th marks the 5th anniversary of Hurricane Katrina. This storm is now known as the single most destructive Hurricane to hit US soil.
The images below are only a small picture of the damage the storm caused the gulf.
5 years later, rebuilding has occured, and familes have been united, but there is STILL plenty of work to be done.

Album Review: Y'anna Crowley

The Season Two winner of BET's hit gospel sing-off competition Sunday's Best winner Y'anna Crowley
released her debut album The Promise today, Tuesday August 24th.
Beautifully writter and perfectly arranged Y'anna's debut album is sure to be a blessing to music lovers young and old.
Her vocal styling is pure joy. The elegant runs, serious squalls, and her slight vibrato makes me smile from ear to ear.
Pick this album up!! Trust me, you will enjoy it!
My favorites from the release are: "You're still God" "Well done", "Stronger" and "Looking toward heaven"

Be blessed!

Music Review: Kool's Bazaar

Fact: Indianapolis has a fairly small indie music scene. A few months ago, well more like almost a year ago, I kept hearing about a, awesome jazz/neo-soul/ hip-hop/spoken word group by the name of Kool's Bazaar, that was TEARING up the Indianapolis music scene. I wanted to hear this group, YET everytime I wanted to hear them, I kept missing out. FINALLY a few months ago- I was able to catch the smooth, cool, awesome, ecelctic sound that is Kool's Bazaar.
Please, Please, Please, Check them out! Kool's Bazaar

Kool's Bazaar released their debut album: The Kool's Bazaar Experience recently and let me tell you: IT IS GIVING ME LIFE!
The live band is simply awesome. The lead singer Nas, thrills me with her riffs, and runs, and her unique sound.
My favorite song on the album is: Temptations

Happy Mother's Day

Today we give our mothers (or mother figures) love and flowers while they can still cherish them.
Happy Mother's Day to all the mom's out there. What you do day in and day out is truly amazing. The shot below is of me and my mom on my wedding day in 2008.
Happy Mother's Day mom. You are truly my angel here on earth. God broke the mold when he made you.

Black AIDS Day 2010

Do you know your status....?

The HIV/AIDS epidemic in Black America is a continuing public health crisis for the United States. According to the Centers for Disease Control and Prevention, at the end of 2006, there were an estimated 1.1 million people living with HIV infection, of which almost half (46%) were Black.

National Black HIV/AIDS Awareness Day, February 7th of every year, is a national HIV testing and treatment community mobilization initiative targeted at Blacks in the United States.
There are four specific focal points: education, testing, involvement, and treatment. Educationally, the focus is to get Blacks educated on the basics of HIV/AIDS in their local communities.

Fresh Re-Twist

Hey folks!!
It's the start of a new year, and I've decided to start my year with a fresh re-twist of my locs. Normally, I dread this process because it is very time consuming (it can take me up to 4 hours to complete the entire process) but.. today I was pumped to do the job.

I washed, and towel dried the locs, and lightly sprayed them with Jamaican Mango and Lime Lock & Setting Spray. I love it! It's light, and it gives my locs ton's of body.

Check out my pics of the process below:

Freshly Washed, Check out the length!!

I re-twist my locs with Organic Root Stimulator Lock & Twist Gel. It works wonders on my locs! The gel is soft, smooth, and it does NOT flake. Check it out!

After re-twisting I sprayed them with Marula hair and scalp oil, and I sat under the dryer for 15 mins.

Lastly, the finished product.
