Album Review: Y'anna Crowley

The Season Two winner of BET's hit gospel sing-off competition Sunday's Best winner Y'anna Crowley

released her debut album The Promise today, Tuesday August 24th.
Beautifully writter and perfectly arranged Y'anna's debut album is sure to be a blessing to music lovers young and old.
Her vocal styling is pure joy. The elegant runs, serious squalls, and her slight vibrato makes me smile from ear to ear.
Pick this album up!! Trust me, you will enjoy it!
My favorites from the release are: "You're still God" "Well done", "Stronger" and "Looking toward heaven"

Tasty Treat: Friday Lemon Margarita's

I, Candace Renee', am a I lover of Tequila.
Yep. LOVE IT. Don't judge, Tequila makes life fun! Try it.
Anywhoo- Enjoy the recipe below, it's a staple in my house.

Kosher salt or sugar cane for rimming glasses (optional)
Ice cubes
1/2-1 cup silver Tequila (I'm a fan of Patron or Jose')

1/4 cup of Simply Lemonade or freshly made lemonade
Lemon rind for garnish
Directions
Rim 2 margarita glasses with salt or sugar if desired, and fill with ice.
Pour the Tequila and lemondae into a shakerfilled with ice.
Shake vigorously.
 Pour into prepared margarita glasses, and serve.

Happy Father's Day

Today is the day we celebrate the men and women who have taken on a fatherly role in our lives.
We salute you with gifts like grills, ties, and steak dinners, but we also show our appreciation for the little things you do. Those little things add up to be such big memories- how to change a tire, our first date, or the last kiss before we walk down the aisle.
Today, I wish my mother Anita,  A Happy Father's Day, the allthough I have a dad, the duel job you've done for the past 10+  years has been amazing. You took on the double role with grace and style like no other.
I praise God for sending me a mom, and a father like you.

To all the Father's (in whatever capacity that may be) Enjoy today. It's all about you. Thank you.

Good Morning, and Happy Thanksgiving you to and yours!

Today I am thankful for my life. Things may seem bad or not the way I would want them, but in reality someone didn't wake up this morning. That someone could have been me. I'm thankful for the wonderful husband God sent me. I know there are times when I drive him crazy, and he doesn't know what to do with me, but I'm thankful for him, and I'm so thankful to be his wife. I am also the loving friends and family that are in my life. I believe that my friends (online & offline) are my angels here on earth. The support and love of my family is truly a blessing, and I'm glad to my family is MY family. Lastly, I am thankful that I am safe, on the road to a healthier life, and happy, not many people can say that they are happy in these trying times. Life may not always be what we hoped for, but it is life and life is what YOU make it.

Spicy Pico Chicken & Mexican Rice

I haven't posted a recipe in a while so.. Enjoy!

Super Easy Spicy Pico Chicken & Homemade Mexican Rice

Easy Spicy Pico Chicken

Preheat Oven to 375

Washing & pat dry Chicken breasts

Season them with Lawrys or Season All), Garlic Powder, Black Pepper & Chili Powder

Bake covered for 45-60 mins or until juices run clear.

I buy fresh Pico de Gallo from Qdoba. It's the best Pico EVER, But you can use what you like. The guy that works at my Qdoba knows me, and he makes some spicy so I always ask for the spicy kind. After the chicken bakes, I cover the chicken with spicy bbq sauce and then place the pico on top and let it bake for 15 additional mins.

Top with fresh chopped cilantro and cheddar cheese.

Super Easy Mexican Rice

You need:

Make white rice as you would normally & Drain in excess water

Chop and saute one medium Onion and set aside

1 can of diced chili peppers

1 can of tomato sauce

Mix Rice, Onion, Tomato Sauce, and peppers together. Season with Salt, Pepper and a pinch of garlic powder

Simmer on low for 15 mins and Enjoy!

Today, while browsing through my i-phone play lists, I came to the realization that there is one artists, that I love that NEVER gets in love... ANY LOVE.. And the girl is BAD!! She is:

Syleena Johnson. Daughter of 1960's singer, Syl Johnson, Chi-Town native. Crazy voice, excellent with a pen and pad, yet she gets NO LOVE!

We first heard from her in 1996 on her unknown album Love Hangover, then again in 2001 after meeting a Jive record exec at a basketball game, she was quickly signed to the label, and birthed Chapter 1: Love, Pain and Forgiveness. GREAT ALBUM FOLKS!! My favorite song from this album was the hit single, I am your woman, which R. Kelly penned. . 2002 gave us Chapter 2: The Voice, which had hits as Tonight, I'm gonna let go, and No Words. She also lent her vocals to the Kanye West hit All Falls down, from his debut album The College Dropout. Her 2005 release gave us Chapter 3: The Flesh, which hits included: Hypnotic, and my personal fav Another Relationship. In 2009 Syleena released Chapter 4: Labor Pains, this album was released on the Aneelys Records label-Syleena's own label. My favorites song on the album is Be Me.

Fathers Day:What to give my mom

Father's day is fastly approaching, and I have no idea what to get my mom this year.
For the past 5 years or so, my sister and I have gotten her a gift. We give her a gift each year because she has dual duty-She is mom and dad, and has been since our parents divorced.
But this year, we (my sister & I) are having issues.
What do you give the mom that has everything.? She isn't hard to buy for, but I think we have been giving her same thing on Father's Day for a few years now. We need to switch it up!
