Album Review: Y'anna Crowley

The Season Two winner of BET's hit gospel sing-off competition Sunday's Best winner Y'anna Crowley
released her debut album The Promise today, Tuesday August 24th.
Beautifully writter and perfectly arranged Y'anna's debut album is sure to be a blessing to music lovers young and old.
Her vocal styling is pure joy. The elegant runs, serious squalls, and her slight vibrato makes me smile from ear to ear.
Pick this album up!! Trust me, you will enjoy it!
My favorites from the release are: "You're still God" "Well done", "Stronger" and "Looking toward heaven"

Be blessed!

Music Review: Kool's Bazaar

Fact: Indianapolis has a fairly small indie music scene. A few months ago, well more like almost a year ago, I kept hearing about a, awesome jazz/neo-soul/ hip-hop/spoken word group by the name of Kool's Bazaar, that was TEARING up the Indianapolis music scene. I wanted to hear this group, YET everytime I wanted to hear them, I kept missing out. FINALLY a few months ago- I was able to catch the smooth, cool, awesome, ecelctic sound that is Kool's Bazaar.
Please, Please, Please, Check them out! Kool's Bazaar

Kool's Bazaar released their debut album: The Kool's Bazaar Experience recently and let me tell you: IT IS GIVING ME LIFE!
The live band is simply awesome. The lead singer Nas, thrills me with her riffs, and runs, and her unique sound.
My favorite song on the album is: Temptations

Happy Father's Day

Today is the day we celebrate the men and women who have taken on a fatherly role in our lives.
We salute you with gifts like grills, ties, and steak dinners, but we also show our appreciation for the little things you do. Those little things add up to be such big memories- how to change a tire, our first date, or the last kiss before we walk down the aisle.
Today, I wish my mother Anita,  A Happy Father's Day, the allthough I have a dad, the duel job you've done for the past 10+  years has been amazing. You took on the double role with grace and style like no other.
I praise God for sending me a mom, and a father like you.

To all the Father's (in whatever capacity that may be) Enjoy today. It's all about you. Thank you.

Artist Review

Brian Reeves & Heart after God

I was first introduced to the incredible sound of Brian Reeves & Heart after God a few weeks ago at a clean artist showcase held in the Indianapolis Arts Garden, and I must say.. They gained an INSTANT fan.
The indianapolis gospel music community is a fairly tight knit group of people, and I had heard several ramblings about the group, but I had never had a chance to hear them until then. I'm so glad I got the chance!
Brian's sound is clean and fresh. The group has excellent voice control, and they all are truly worshipers who love sharing their love of Jesus.
Check out Brian & Heart after God's latest release "Awakening" avaialble on iTunes right now!
My favorite tracks on the album are I choose you, Lucky, and You are God.
Get the album, and be BLESSED!

Happy Thanksgiving!

Good Morning, and Happy Thanksgiving you to and yours!

Today I am thankful for my life. Things may seem bad or not the way I would want them, but in reality someone didn't wake up this morning. That someone could have been me. I'm thankful for the wonderful husband God sent me. I know there are times when I drive him crazy, and he doesn't know what to do with me, but I'm thankful for him, and I'm so thankful to be his wife. I am also the loving friends and family that are in my life. I believe that my friends (online & offline) are my angels here on earth. The support and love of my family is truly a blessing, and I'm glad to my family is MY family. Lastly, I am thankful that I am safe, on the road to a healthier life, and happy, not many people can say that they are happy in these trying times. Life may not always be what we hoped for, but it is life and life is what YOU make it.

Happy Thanksgiving, and Be blessed!

Major Milestone.. 1st Wedding Anniversary

This past Sunday, (October 25) I celebrated my first wedding anniversary with my husband. One year.. Man, how time flies. I had planned to post this on our actual anniversary, but we were travelling to Las Vegas for the first of many annual anniversary trips. We had a such a great time-This was my husbands first trip to Vegas, and the West Coast.. (He lives in an Empire State of Mind-New Yorker at heart) This is the first time since the week before our wedding that we have spent more than 3 days together with out having to work or just do anything- It was great! After having some much fun, I promptly told my husband that we need to go that more often.

As if I haven't said it a million times already- Happy 1st Anniversary Eric, This ride has been amazing, and I can't wait to see where it takes us next.

Check us out.. Shots from our Vegas Trip:

When it's time to let go: Friendship

Give me a good friend, and I'm happy for life. I'm a Cancer, and we tend to hold on to friendships for live, even when we know we shouldn't. So the thought of letting a friend go makes my stomach hurt and my head ache. I've even prayed about it.

Currently, I'm at a crossroads, I have this friend that I've known for years, were close, and consider ourselves more of sisters then we do friends. Lately, I'm feeling that things are different, and not in a good way. Change is good in most cases, but not when it involves a friend that is holding up their end of the friendship bargain. I feel as if I've been more than a great friend and sister, but my needs of the friendship aren't being met. So, what does one do when a cherished friendship has run it's course? How awful is it realize that this friendship you have shared for 12 years is no longer serving its purpose?

From the looks of it, a good house cleaning on friends is in order. Hard to do, and much easier said than done, but I've got to do what is best for me. As much as I love this friend, and have shared most my life with this person - our lives are at different forks in the road. My road leads on way and their road is leading another.

Losing a friend is hard, but sometimes it may be the best thing for you.-and I'm ok with that.

The Break-Up: Part Two

Whoever said breaking up is hard to do, hit the nail on the head.
Breaking up with someone in my opinion no matter how long you were together is one of the hardest things that you can go through. From the tears, the evil words that were spoke, to the giving back of gifts, to the awkwardness of seeing each other out in public afterwards, breaking up generally just sucks. I've been through more than my share of few breaks-ups, and out of all of them I can remember walking away from only one of them thinking "Wow that was easier than I thought." The whole do-da just stinks.
The entire process of a break-up is physically, and mentally draining on everyone involved, heck its even draining on the folks that are trying to be supportive of the two or three (in some cases) people trying get on with their lives. Speaking of which, oh the supportive friend, let me tell you from experience, that is a HARD job to fill. In my experience it's either on one side you want your friend or family member to be happy or you just want it all to just end nice and quick. In some cases you want both.
Whatever side you are on know this.. breaking up with someone can changed your life for the better or for the worse- it's up to you to decide on how.
